It’s very nice — attractive and has some cool features, but I didn’t realize how big 18″ is! I’ll put it outdoors, it’s too big for the inside of my house.

An obvious innovation

I was watching a great show on Nature last night, about the American Bald Eagle.. and a thought I had was, “man, I bet (insert name) would love this show!” All I wanted was a “share” button to send my friend some idea of what I watched and that this person might like it too. Maybe an email with a link to the guide of when it’s on? Maybe a link to an on-line version of that video? Maybe a link to iTunes where they could buy it?

I’d love to see this. We all watch TV (too much?). And we all discuss what we watch with others. Even Boxee, which has been around for a while, is trying to make inroads here, but why can’t the STB (set-top box) people incorporate this? OHH.. because they are dinosaurs. And the content owners would never let anyone have even the slightest bit of flexibility in how the content is used, shared, managed, etc.

It’s all a pity.. this is the kind of innovation that would get people to watch more TV.. With 3 major groups: content, STB manufacturers, and cable companies; it’s a miracle we get any programming at all.. but it’s easy to see why we totally lack for any real velocity in our innovation.
