When our beloved dog, Cookie, passed away last fall (of 2007), I made a little video tribute to her.. we all took it very hard, losing a dog we had from when we got married, 2 kids, 2 states, 3 houses (and a rental), and she was such a treasured member of the family – a small video seemed fitting. And why not, post the video to YouTube. And I did.

Strangely, I noticed today that I had a copyright issue with one of my videos – this one. I dove deeper and noticed that they had picked up on the fact that I lifted the song “Wings” from the Brokeback Mountain soundtrack. But it has a happy ending. First off, clearly those content filters and fingerprints really work! And while I feared they would crack down on me for this use, the author or copyright owner has an “allow” policy for their music – so the video remains, intact, and as sad for me as ever.
So, thanks to YouTube and the folks that let my little tribute remain alive and unaltered.
