Today we got an email with a slew of documents on our solar project:
- A quote for 60% of our energy need
- A quote for 70% of our energy need (sounds like with somewhat better equipment)
- Product sheets for each of the 2 different types of panels
- A site drawing for how the panels will hang
Well, the good news is that the prices are lower than we expected! I think we were told by someone else earlier in the process of some idea of a ballpark, but we’re thankful that we now feel we can afford this. Even better, at the prices we’ve been quoted, it looks like the payback should be on target, but I do need to calculate this in more detail.
As a beta tester for the new MSN Live Folders, I was able to store the docs there! A summary of the pricing:
| Sunpower |
System Components Cost: $ 31,975 |
| Kyocera |
System Components Cost: $ 25,760 |
Next steps are to review the quote and make some decisions! Last, but not least, how solar cells work (from howstuffworks.com).
