Nothing better, as summer approaches, than watermelon. But it can really go in a number of directions:
- It needs to be ripe, which isn’t easy to tell
- I prefer it cold
- I hate when they say “seedless” and it has black seeds. I expect a few (or many) white ones, but more than 5 or 6 black ones, and i’m annoyed
- I also hate when it’s all ruby red, but has no taste – see point 1
- You need to drain out the juices on a daily basis, it makes the watermelon mealy
- Mealy is tough, it can be tolerable, but more often than not, it ends up in my disposal
Welcome to watermelon season!
