I  got a trial version of Vista installed and I must say, I’m not really that impressed.  Certainly the graphics are nice, as is the integrated search, but I also find it seems to be taking more clicks to do things that used to be easier to get done.  The real villian here is Microsoft itself.  They made the prior versions so porous to security vulnerabilities that they had to lock, er bolt, this version down.  Some simple examples:

– You cannot install anything without a “User Access Control” pop-up.  You’re numb to these after 3 of them and just click OK out of habit

– You can’t do some basic things without running in admin mode.  Want to refresh your IP?  Nope, you can’t just start/run/cmd – you need to run the command prompt in admin mode.  It’s these little things that just get under my skin.  I’m sure I’ll figure out how to make these things go away, but until then, I’ll be annoyed.
