Oct 19
  • i imagine it might be nice to catalog our vacation on the blog.. josh (my brother) always tells me my blog sucks, but maybe a candid recap of our trip might get him to change his tune
  • we left denver on thursday, oct 19, 2006.  ok, that was a boring tid-bit.
  • the itinerary is as follows:

>> Leave today for FLL.  Visit my grandma, Minnie Saitz, who lives in Margate, FL.  It’s like 10-15 min from Boca.  She lives in a retirement community, so she has her own 2BR condo.  It’s obviously flat, she has no interest in stairs, and she’s lucky enough to have a ground floor unit, as there are no elevators.  We’ll probably see my cousin, Nicole and her new son, Douglas.  We may get to see Nicole’s brother, Jack.  I’ve known them my entire life and we always try to see them and spend time with them when we’re in the South Florida area

>> On Sunday, we’ll leave her place for Kennedy Space Center.  We won’t go Sunday, but we’re booked at a hotel nearby for Sunday night.

>> We’ll spend Monday at Kennedy, then late in the day, we’ll drive over to Orlando. starting Monday night, we stay at the Nickelodeon Suites hotel, near Disney World.  It’s a new hotel, with water park, and totally Nick themed.  The kids are already bonkers and they’ve never been there..

>> Saturday, Oct 28th, we’ll fly back to Denver

  • Other misc. highlights: I expect to get a visit in to The Cheesecake Factory, my favorite restaurant.  I also am sure we’ll get in ~2 visits to the Beverly Hills Cafe, which is near my grandmothers condo and has some of the best salads I’ve ever had.  And I eat lots of salads, so I know a good salad.
  • Arrive to Ft. Lauderdale airport, 4:30PM EST, fairly smooth flight, the Ted flight attendants are about as cranky as I’ve experienced in recent history, and the 2 people next to me slept the entire flight.
  • Got to my grandmothers, she had the dates mixed up and expected us next week – oops.  So she didn’t have dinner ready, so we headed out to the Beverly Hills Cafe – wonderful as expected.
  • Came back to her place, showered the kids, and time to pile in front of the TV for the Mets game on Fox.  It’s a grueling game to watch, great pitching, no offense, and as the game goes on, you know: 1 mistake and your season is over.
