Normally I can’t stand Hollywood and their bullcrap.  The MPAA, their anti-piracy/anti-consumer policies (HDMI and down-res’ing HD DVD), their inability to agree on a single format for HD DVDs, and so on.  Well, this time I need to go on record, I support them.  What issue you ask?  There are these hack shops, like CleanFlicks, that sell “sanitized” DVDs, removing profanity, violence, nudity, and so on – purely based on their own subjective and usually religious zealot driven beliefs.  This makes me sick.  If you don’t like the movie as the director made, T for Tough.  Go rent Bambi or Dumbo if Speilberg, Scorsese, or Redford are too offensive for you.

Well – the good news.  These directors sued a bunch of the these shops (sickeningly, there are many) and WON!  This judge (U.S. District Judge Richard Matsch ), who doesn’t even look like he has a DVD player, saw the light of the evil these sanitizers are up to.  Read the complete story here – it’s a happy ending :-)
